Circleville Pet Services - Training

Puppy Preschool

Our preschool program is designed to educate owners and puppies during the most critical socialization period of their puppy's life. Nearly 10% of all puppies are lost to shelters because of behavior problems. Our program is established to not only introduce new objects and situations to your puppy, but to teach the owners how to approach them in the future. Teaching owners how to approach new situations and objects properly will increase your dog's chances of living up to his/her full potential, and how to do so without imprinting fears. This increases the chances of raising the perfect family pet.

Obedience Training

Obedience Training is "the key" to communication between dog and owner. True obedience is defined as the "willingness to follow the will of others". This does not mean implementing your will on the dog in the name of dog training. Regardless of your dog's breed your dog can be trained in some form of obedience providing they are medically capable. Obedience training teaches a dog restraint, control, respect, trust and gives the dog a reliable foundation in which to learn more advanced training such as sporting or competitive events, duck retrieval, AKC competitions, therapy dogs, support dogs for the disabled, personal protection dogs, etc… Whatever goals you have for your dog the most important step is basic obedience.

Advanced Training

For those considering advanced training, a strong foundation in obedience is required prior to beginning training. The level of obedience required is to be determined by the type of training requested. Those individuals requesting personal protection work must demonstrate a need for such a request and show proficiency as a handler prior to initial evaluation of dog.
